The 11 best AI client portal buildersin 2026, from ready-made portals to ones you build yourself

A client portal is a private space where each client signs in and finds their own files, messages, invoices and project status, under your brand. Some tools hand you one to configure; others let you build your own with AI. Here's what each costs, how it charges for clients, and what it secures for you.

By the Capacity team. Capacity is our product: it's listed first, and every section says who should pick something else. Prices come from each tool's official pricing page, checked on October 17, 2026.

Quick answer

For a service firm that wants a portal working this week, Assembly (formerly Copilot) and SuiteDash come with client login, messages, files and payments built in. Assembly is free for 5 clients; SuiteDash charges one flat price for unlimited clients, from $19 a month.

To build one on your own data without code, Softr and Noloco are the closest fits, and Knack, Tadabase and Zite include unlimited users on every plan.

Capacity, which we make, builds a custom portal from a description on your own domain, with login through Clerk, Auth0 or Supabase and payments through Stripe. Lovable builds one from a chat with login built in, and Bubble gives the most visual control.

What a client portal needs. And where these tools differ.

Each client sees only their own data

The whole point of a portal: a client signs in and sees their projects, files and invoices, never another client's. Assembly and SuiteDash handle it for you, Noloco and Softr make it a setting, and in an app an AI writes, it's code to test.

Files, messages, invoices and payments

Portal software ships them: Assembly has messaging, files, contracts and payments, and SuiteDash adds proposals, invoicing and support tickets. Builders give you a database and screens, and you add the rest.

Per client, per seat or flat

Assembly counts active contacts (50 on Starter, 500 on Professional), and Noloco caps active clients (50 free, 1,000 on Build). SuiteDash, Knack, Tadabase and Zite don't charge per client. Price a tool at next year's client count, not today's.

Your brand, on your domain

SuiteDash is white label throughout, with a branded mobile app. Most tools add a custom domain on a paid plan: Softr from Basic, Assembly from Professional, Capacity on every plan.

Security basics

OWASP's guidance comes down to a few rules: multi-factor authentication for every user and always for admins, no SMS codes where personal data is stored, access denied by default, and permissions checked on every request, for each record.

Configure or build

Configure portal software when your process looks like most service firms'. Build when the portal follows your own workflow, like bookings, orders or a client dashboard, and you'd rather not pay per client.

How we compared them. The same questions for every tool.

  • Client login and permissions, and who sets them up: the vendor or you.
  • What's ready on day one: messages, files, invoices and payments, or a database you shape.
  • How clients change the price: per client, per seat or flat.
  • Branding: a custom domain and your logo, and on which plan.
  • Security: two-factor sign-in, certifications, and where the permission rules live.

Capacity

Best for a portal built around how you work, on your own domain, on a plan that isn't priced per client.

Capacity's dashboard, where you describe what to build
The Capacity dashboard (sample projects)

Capacity turns a plain-language description into a working app: a React front end, a server and its own database, published at a capacity.studio address or on your own domain. You change it by chatting and watch each change in the preview. You choose the model (Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Fable 5.1, Mistral Large 4 or Kimi K3) or leave it on Auto.

Why pick Capacity

  • Describe the screens and what each client should see, and Capacity builds them, with a full version history to roll back any change.
  • Extensions cover the rest: login with Clerk, Auth0 or Supabase, payments with Stripe, email with Resend, Brevo or SendGrid, chat with Crisp or Intercom.
  • Priced by building credits, not by client: a new client doesn't change your Capacity plan.

Watch out for

  • It isn't portal software: no ready-made file sharing, e-signature or invoicing like Assembly's or SuiteDash's. You get the app you describe.
  • Login isn't built in: Clerk, Auth0 and Supabase each have their own pricing, and who sees what is code in your app, to test with two client accounts before you invite anyone.
  • No free plan in the web app (from $25 a month); Capacity Desktop has a free plan with one project.

Pricing

Starter $25/month (100 credits), Growth $69/month (250 credits), Professional $129/month (500 credits), Business $299/month (1,000 credits). Every plan includes unlimited projects, custom domains and unlimited building from Claude and ChatGPT.

Lovable logo

02

Lovable

Best for a custom portal from a chat, with client login, a database and file storage included through Lovable Cloud.

Lovable's home page
lovable.dev, October 17, 2026

Lovable builds web apps from a chat with a live preview beside it. Lovable Cloud adds the backend, with a database, user login, file storage and server functions on a Supabase foundation, and your code syncs both ways with GitHub on every plan.

Why pick it

  • The chat and the preview are the whole interface, so there's little to learn.
  • Because the code syncs to GitHub on every plan, including Free, a developer can review the access rules before launch.
  • It also works from its own desktop app, from ChatGPT and as an MCP server.

Watch out for

  • Each message uses credits, and Lovable Cloud usage is billed in credits too once its monthly grant is used.
  • The rules that keep one client out of another's records are generated code: test them before launch.

Pricing

Free: 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month. Pro: €25/month for 100 monthly credits, with rollovers, top-ups and custom domains. Business: €50/month, adding a team workspace and SSO. Prices shown in euros from France.

Ready-made client portal software

Assembly logo

03

Assembly

Best for a branded client portal with a CRM, payments and ready-made apps for a service firm.

Assembly's home page
assembly.com, October 17, 2026

Assembly, called Copilot until its rebrand, is client portal software for firms: a CRM, a branded client experience on your domain where clients message your team, share files, sign contracts and pay, and more than 30 ready-made apps for intake, onboarding, proposals, payments and project tracking. Its AI app builder changes those apps or builds new ones from a description, with sign-in, permissions and branding already handled.

Why pick it

  • Sign-in, permissions and data isolation are part of the platform, not generated by AI; every app runs in its own sandbox, and Assembly is SOC 2 Type II certified.
  • Hosting, storage and AI usage of your apps are included, and using an app doesn't consume build credits.
  • A free plan to start: 5 active contacts, 1 internal user, 75 build credits a month and 3 apps.

Watch out for

  • Plans cap active contacts (your clients) and internal users: Starter has 50 contacts and 1 user, Professional 500 contacts and 3 users, with extra users at $29 a month (yearly).
  • Paid plans include 200 build credits a month, extra credits cost $0.60 each, and extra apps beyond the 5 included are $5 a month each.

Pricing

Free: 5 active contacts, 1 internal user, 75 build credits a month, 3 apps. Billed yearly: Starter $29/month (50 contacts, 1 internal user, 200 build credits), Professional $99/month (500 contacts, 3 internal users, custom domains, API; extra users $29), Advanced $499/month (unlimited contacts, 5 internal users, HIPAA with a BAA; extra users $59). Billed monthly: $49, $139 and $599. Enterprise on request. Card payments 2.9% + $0.30.

SuiteDash logo

04

SuiteDash

Best for a white-label client portal with CRM, billing and projects at one flat price.

SuiteDash's home page
suitedash.com, October 17, 2026

SuiteDash is all-in-one business software built around a CRM and a white-label client portal. It covers onboarding, proposals, contracts and e-signature, invoicing and subscriptions, projects and tasks, file sharing, email marketing, appointments, courses and support tickets, tied together by no-code automations. Clients and staff sign in on your own domain or through a custom-branded mobile app.

Why pick it

  • One price per account, not per user: unlimited staff, clients and portals on every plan.
  • White label throughout: your URL, logo and colors, branded email notifications and a branded mobile app.
  • Many tools in one place, from CRM and onboarding to billing, projects and HIPAA-compliant messaging.

Watch out for

  • No free plan: you get a 14-day trial of Pinnacle with no card, then pick a paid plan.
  • The full automation toolkit, onboarding flows, courses and support tickets need Pinnacle ($99/month), and some features are paid Power-Ups, like enforced two-factor authentication in the $40/month PLUS bundle.

Pricing

Monthly: Start $19, Thrive $49, Pinnacle $99. Yearly: $180, $480 and $960 a year. Century (paid once): $2,240, $3,940 and $6,840. Unlimited clients, staff and portals on every plan; 100GB, 500GB and 2TB of storage. Power-Ups cost extra (VIP $50/month, PRIME, PLUS and WORLDs $40/month each), or SuiteDreams, Pinnacle plus every Power-Up, at $1,499 one-time plus $49/month.

softr.io, October 17, 2026

  • Granular permissions and visibility, with Google sign-in and one-time passwords for your clients.
  • Over 59 integrations, including Airtable and Notion as data sources.

Watch out for

  • Permissions, which a client portal depends on, start on Pro at $99 a month billed yearly, a big step from Basic at $19; two-factor authentication is on Business at $329.
  • AI credits are few (5 a month free, 10 on Basic, 50 on Pro), so most building is done with no-code blocks.

Pricing

Free: 5 AI credits a month. Billed yearly: Basic $19/month (10 AI credits, custom domain), Pro $99/month (50 AI credits, no Softr branding, permissions, custom code), Business $329/month (100 AI credits, 2FA, installable mobile app with push notifications). Yearly billing gives two months free.

How to choose. Start from what you need, not from the ranking.

Questions people ask. Short answers, with the details above.

What is the best AI tool to build a client portal in 2026?

For a portal that works out of the box, Assembly (formerly Copilot) and SuiteDash include client login, messages, files and payments. On your own data, Softr and Noloco fit best, and Knack, Tadabase and Zite include unlimited users. Around your own workflow, Capacity and Lovable build one from a description, and Bubble gives the most visual control.

Can I build a client portal without code?

Yes. Softr, Noloco, Knack, Tadabase, Zite, Glide and Bubble are no-code builders, most with an AI that drafts the app. Assembly and SuiteDash need no building at all: you configure them. Capacity and Lovable write the code for you from a chat, so you never have to touch it.

How much does a client portal cost?

Assembly is free for 5 active contacts, then $29 a month for 50 and $99 for 500, billed yearly. SuiteDash costs $19, $49 or $99 a month with unlimited clients. Softr starts at $19 a month billed yearly, but permissions start on Pro at $99. Noloco's Build plan is $65 a month billed yearly for up to 1,000 active clients, Knack starts at $59 a month, and Capacity at $25.

Can I build a client portal on Airtable or Google Sheets?

Yes. Noloco keeps an Airtable base or a Google Sheet as the source and syncs it on its Build plan ($65 a month billed yearly), and Softr uses Airtable or Notion as data sources. Tadabase connects external sources like Airtable from its Business plan ($250 a month). Knack, Zite and Capacity keep the data in their own database instead.

How do I make sure each client only sees their own data?

Pick a tool where it's a platform feature, or test it hard. Assembly builds data isolation into the platform, Noloco has record permissions on every plan, and Softr adds permissions on Pro. In an app built with Capacity, Lovable or Bubble, sign in as two clients and try to open each other's pages before launch, and check that a guessed link to another client's record is refused.

Does a client portal need two-factor authentication?

OWASP's guidance is to require some form of multi-factor authentication for all users, administrators above all, and not to use SMS codes for apps that hold personal data. Plans that list it: Softr Business, Noloco Build (optional, enforceable on Enterprise), Bubble from Growth, and enforced 2FA on Zite's Team plan or in SuiteDash's PLUS Power-Up ($40 a month). In Capacity, it depends on the login service you add.

Can clients pay invoices in the portal?

In Assembly, clients pay inside the portal, with card payments at 2.9% + $0.30. SuiteDash includes invoicing and subscriptions. In Capacity, you add Stripe as an extension and describe the payment flow you want, then test it before clients use it.
