Until Capacity is listed in the ChatGPT app directory, ChatGPT asks you to turn on developer mode to add it.

  1. 1In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on developer mode.
  2. 2Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create, name it Capacity and paste the server URL above (authentication: OAuth).
  3. 3Approve access on the Capacity page that opens — you can create your account right there.
  4. 4In a new chat, enable Capacity and ask: “Build me a … on Capacity”.

Using Claude Code or Cursor? Create an API key in Settings → Connectors and copy the ready-made command.

Questions

Does building from ChatGPT use my Capacity credits?+

No. ChatGPT writes the code on your ChatGPT subscription. Capacity provides the workspace, builds, previews, hosting and domains — unlimited on every paid plan. Credits are only used by the Capacity agent inside the Capacity app.

Why do I need developer mode?+

ChatGPT only lets you add connectors that are not in its app directory through developer mode. Once Capacity is listed, you'll be able to add it in one click.

Can I keep working on the app in Capacity?+

Yes. Apps built from ChatGPT show up in your Capacity dashboard with their full version history. Switch between ChatGPT and the Capacity editor whenever you like.

What kind of apps can ChatGPT build?+

Websites and client-side apps (React, Tailwind, shadcn/ui), or full-stack apps with an API, a database and user accounts. Every app gets a live preview URL and can be published to your own domain.
